I got the Phonak Paradise R-90 hearing aids. They'll help me a lot with the soft sounds I can no longer hear. They came with rechargeable batteries and a "pod" for recharging. (Great not having to listen to the annoying low-battery sounds and dealing with teeny batteries!). I downloaded the MyPhonak App to my 7 year old Samsung Android phone and had no problem connecting them via bluetooth and using the app. It has a default mode, but can be switched to use other modes such as Restaurant, TV, etc, but so far, the default mode seems to be good enough I can also adjust the volume. You can also do this without the App. You can also answer phone calls by just tapping the hearing aid, similar to regular ear buds. Hope this is helpful!” - LW

“I experienced sudden sensorineural hearing loss in both the ears at the tender age of 11. Because it happened all of a sudden, my parents took me to millions of doctors not only in the United States but also in other countries such as India. Doctor's couldn't attribute any specific cause to my hearing impairment - the ones in India especially - just came to the conclusion - that I use hearing aids to manage the loss. The audiologists in India and all were plain rude and seemed to suffer from a rather narcissistic case of God complex. I was never satisfied with any hearing aids that were from India.The aids would experience moisture problems during traveling even if it was to the local Walmart, even if the weather was only slightly chilly. The quality of the hearing aids from India were horrible in itself.Most of the time I had to struggle to lip-read people and look for social, non - verbal cues. I would miss the punch line of most jokes and couldn't even understand sarcasm.Then came Chicagoland Audibel Hearing Aid Centers! They were seriously and legit the "MANNA FROM HEAVEN" for me!! The audiologist Jordan was really friendly and made me feel comfortable enough to talk about any and all hearing issues that were bothersome for me. He fitted me with Starkey's CIC - completely in the canal - hearing aid. He was a patient, good listener and made only the changes to hearing aid frequency and volume as requested. The hearing aid itself is so good that I no longer have to rely on lip - reading. I can even catch the tone of aged people like my grandparents. I can understand the punch line of jokes, I am socializing to the point of being the life of the party. And oh, I needed to take a public speaking class for college credit and I can confidently do the same without any student disability resources.If only all audiologists were as nice as Jordan, and all hearing aid centers as professional as Chicagoland Audibel's,  life for us deafies could seriously get a whole lot easier!!
